Old News - End of 2008

Update - 8th December 2008

- - - KEEP AN EYE ON THE CALENDAR - - -

The committee has been really busy over the past couple of weeks in the lead up to Christmas, but just because this home page hasn't been updated doesn't mean we haven't been out there boarding!

Keep a close eye on the calendar because we'll have some big days out on the water soon. Also, make sure you are on our mailing list and we might send you out a reminder every now and then... so you don't forget!

See you on the water soon!

Update - 13th November 2008

- - - CHEEKY TUESDAY - - -

We are heading out next Tuesday, 18th Nov. Spots are limited so get in quick. Call Michael after hours on 0433 919 400. I've posted it here because the calendar seems to be down at the moment. It should be back online very soon.

Update - 10th November 2008

- - - SUNDAY SESSIONS - - -

The crew, just chillin.

There's nothing like a lazy Sunday on the river to cure a hangover. I think quite a few people were nursing sore heads when we met at Central Station at 9am Sunday morning, but a few bacon and egg mcmuffins and some hash browns later everyone was fuelled up and ready to go.

We had 6 new people that had never ridden behind "Big Red" before, from first time beginners to intermediate riders and they all had a blast. There should be photo's up in the gallery in the coming days (as soon as Jimmy and Thibault put them up on Facebook!)

This weekend the boat will probably not be out on the water. The weekend warriors take over the Hawkesbury this weekend with the Bridge to Bridge Ski Race. This means the river is closed most of the day and hence we can't ride. But keep an eye on the calendar because we'll be out there very very soon!

Update - 5th November 2008

- - - ANOTHER WEEKEND COMING UP - - -

Last weekend we saw all our efforts over the winter/spring pay off. The boat was ready to go, the testing and paperwork was done, all that was left was the fun part of our sport... riding. The boat was out on both Saturday and Sunday and although the weather wasn't the best (four weekends of hot sunny weather previous to this... it's always the way) but we had a blast regardless.

A few new members came and tried out our awesome boat and by the looks on their faces when they left, they'll definitely be back again.

We are heading out again this Sunday. Give Michael a call on 0433919400 to book yourself a spot. so far the forecast is kind to us; sunny, no wind and 29 degrees a perfect spring day out on the water. Remember to write down the directions so you know how to get there, and also have the boat captain (this weekend Michael's) number handy so you can let him know what time you expect to arrive.

Hope to see you there.

Update - 23rd October 2008

- - - WE'RE BOARDING... FINALLY... HOORAY!! - - -

The first board of the season is always a little chilly!

Well after much effort on behalf of the committee, especially our club president Giles (remember to thank him!) we are booked in for our test next Tuesday 28th October. After this test the summer is ours; the boat is ready to go, the water is warming up, the weekends have been long and hot, we're excited!

To celebrate our first weekend out on the water we are putting on a treat. We have a cabin booked for Saturday Night at our home away from home Riverside Ski Park. You can come up for the day (either Saturday or Sunday) or why not make a weekend of it and spend Saturday night up at the park, having a few drinks and chatting about the days events. Cabin spots are limited so get in early.

Call either Giles or Michael for more information or to book your spot for our first weekend of fun. If you can't make if be sure to keep an eye on the calendar because now that we have nothing holding us back, expect to see the boat out on the water all the time!

Hey Guys, we have a Casual/Part time position for a Wake & Water salesperson with SOLID background in the other board sports - snow & skate. We require a highly motivated person who is a good communicator who 'lives and breathes' the boarding lifestyle. Initially we require one weekend day per week (every week) with possibly a weekday down the track. There will be extra work in the Holidays. This is a great position for a student looking to work in an industry that they love. It is an opportunity to grow their knowledge base and learn about the industry whilst working with our industry leading team. Please pass this on to all your members and contacts at Sydney Uni Wakeboard Club who may be interested in applying. Applications by email with Resume, is required. In other news, we are just waiting on the testing officer at NSW Maritime to return from his holiday so he can pass our boat fit for an awesome summer of boarding. We're hoping this will be in the next week or two, just in time for some spring bliss... See you soon!

We are looking to sign up new members all the time and as a pre season special, until our first outing (which should be the 11th October) we have made it FREE (usually $10) to join the club.

All you have to do is be a member of Sydney University Sport & Fitness and you have unlimited access to our club for FREE!!!See the Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness website for more information.

Update - 23rd September 2008

- - RECRUITING DAY @ MAIN CAMPUS, WED 24TH SEPT - -

The crew, just chillin.

Sorry for the late notice guys and girls, but Giles (our club President) has been kind enough to bring the boat in from the river to round up some more members for the upcoming summer.

It's going to be on The Square (grassy area behind Manning Bar) on Wednesday 24th September. Everyone get on down there in your break between classes to check out our awesome boat.

While you're down there why not sign up to become a member of the club.

Update - 4th September 2008

- - - WORKING BEE WEEKEND, SAT 13TH SEPT - - -

It's that time again. The days are starting to get that little bit longer and to be ready to go once the water warms up we need to dust off the caravan and tidy up around the park. We also need to add quite a few parts to the boat to make it compliant with the new NSW Waterways rules.

We're calling on as many members as we can to give us a helping hand. Your efforts won't go unnoticed and you'll be doing the club a really big favour. We heading out next Saturday 13th September from 9am, even if you can only help for a few hours or so. In the long run it will mean that the boat will be on the water longer, and that means you have more opportunities to ride!

It's also a great opportunity to meet some of the people behind the club and get to know what we are all about. Hope to see you there!

Update - 15th August 2008

- - - NEW SEASON, NEW WEBSITE - - -

Our new site

The website has a brand new look for the upcoming season. The crew has gone into break mode over the winter but we are slowly returning from hibernation to make sure this season is bigger and better than ever.

Once the chilly temps start to warm up again, hopefully around late September we will be out in force. Expect to see the boat doing the rounds at Uni (both Main campus and Cumberland) in a big recruitment drive.

This is where we need your help. Let all your friends know, sign them up, sign up your friends friends. The more people we have involved this year, the bigger our parties can be. Now for the best part... IT'S FREE to join the club, you just have to be a member of Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness Club.

We are currently looking for new sponsors for our club. We can put your brand on our website, at our promotions and even on each side of our boat (See Pic)! Obviously the club revolves around Wakeboarding and extreme sports but we will endorse just about anything (Pubs (Hint, Hint), Energy Drinks, Clothing, Chocolate and more) so if you are looking to get your product out there drop us a line at sponsorship@usydwake.com.
