The Season has started….and although most of the Boat Captains are away for the next month, we have started looking for our first Camp and ride days.

How about the weather over the past week! 24 degrees and sunny, which means only one thing… summer is coming! It’s not too far away now and as the days start to get longer and the temps increase into the 20′s we will be needing more boat drivers to keep up with the demand of new riders.

Alex is in the process of organising some boat driver courses which give you real experience behind the helm of a boat. It also covers all the theory you need to get behind the wheel on the water. Get involved people, not only will you have fun, but you’ll be more likely to score a spot on our day and weekend trips because we need boat drivers most of all. Contact him via alex @ usydwake.com

To celebrate and kick off the new uni year, we’re having a weekend camp for all newbies. We leave campus on Friday 4th March @ 5PM and head up to the river for a weekend of fun. You will stay in luxury riverside cabins, party all night, wake to smooth waters, breakfast lunch AND dinner, and then do it all again! If you wear yourself out wakeboarding, you can watch the on site waterski racing too. We return to campus on Sunday 6th March bout 6PM……

You get; two nights accommodation, five meals, wakeboard lessons, transport too and from the River…… and all for only $120. Yes that’s right… only $120! This is an annual event that is more fun than you can imagine and sells out every year, hence places are VERY LIMITED (20 people only) and open to MEMBERS ONLY so to make sure you get one of the few remaining spots join the club and email Alex [ alex@usydwake.com ] He will give you bank details of where to pay a deposit. Remember first in best dressed as spots are limited to Cabin bed capacity.

As you can see we are thoroughly preparing for the busiest time of the year and we hope to see you at one or more of our upcoming events! So keep an eye on the calendar page of this website and make sure you get in contact with us and lock yourself in for a fun day on the water.

 After a month of solid riding in October we’ve had a few weeks off whilst the dreaded end of semester essays and exams have been taking place. During this time we’ve taken the opportunity to put in a few additions to the Mastercraft X2 and for it to receive its first ever service (Aaaaaw).

 The stereo is being amped up for your enjoyment (because we all know the importance of good tunes out on the water) so start making some playlists on your iPod boys and girls and get ready for 2010/11 summer anthems and making memories!

Whilst the boats been undergoing a little bit of TLC a few super keen and dedicated riders have been hitting up the Cables Wake Park in Penrith to keep their skills up to par for the Mastercraft’s return.

Things have been busy super busy at Usydwake so if we don’t see you beforehand we hope you have a very Merry Christmas and are ready for a great year of riding throughout 2011.

Epic, Awesome, Phenomenal… etc etc. Really the only way to do it was to succinctly quote the two killer Smurfs from Saturday nights Halloween celebrations;

KS1 “So, er, Saturday yeah. It was the best day I’ve had in Sydney, like since I’ve been here.”

KS2 “Ya, I do completely agree, I think Saturday morning was the best morning of my life like ever, I really mean it, rojas leiderhosen, etc, etc”

Friday was supposed to be a quiet night, a few beers and takeaway on the drive up to the river, all in preparation for the enormity of the weekend to follow. Of course, like any wakeboard weekend the best laid plans are rarely executed and before you could say ‘tipsy student wakeboarders’ there was skinny dipping in the river and complaints from the other guests of the beautiful Holiday park. Almost all of the beers and alcohol bought for the weekend was drunk on the Friday, resulting in some sore heads in the morning and some overnight reverse eating from Jonas. Hangovers are not a problem, thought one of the slightly less portly members of the trip, the best way to get rid of the hangover is to go for a small run in the morning…. I know she regrets it now and i’m Prettie sure she regretted it then as well!

Saturday’s riding from everyone was nothing short of incredible. All of the beginners got up and made it look like they had been doing it for years and all the people who were a bit more advanced went bigger, further, higher and faster than they thought was possible. It makes you happy as an instructor to see the enthusiasm and energy from guys learning new stuff!

Energised and slightly tired/sunburnt from the day on the water we needed to go and get some additional beers for the evening festivities – our fancy dress party night!! The night was also an excuse to celebrate one of the committee’s birthdays, but more an excuse to dress up like idiots and play drinking games that the older generation of wakeboarders didn’t understand.

Sunday was a slightly slower continuation of affairs, with sore heads and a few additions to Jonas’ toilet chatline there were some that could not make it out of bed to get on the water!!!

Sunshine, flat water, some incredible hangovers and great company were the primary themes and the core of what everyone has taken away from the weekend. With 5 beginners all learning how to stand up, cross the wakes and turn from side to side the committee knew they had done their jobs in drawing more people into this amazing sport that we love.

Either way, there is not a soul at this weekend trip who would not do another one in a second….

A massive thank you to all the boat drivers that came up to help out over the weekend. The weekends can be organized by any muppet, the drivers are the real hero’s!
